I had one at the exact same moment i cast enough spells to get enough experience to level up.

Might it be tied to skills leveling up mid-battle?
Hope it helps.

Can be more than one reason, but indeed this can't be the only one: I have had random los or win without my enemy or me had time enoug to cast ANY spell (so 0 experience gained)

Over the last few days I started doing PvP dueling. So far, the random loss is still pretty bad. What I am noticing is;
Not all spells that are cast have the correct effect.

I can lose in the first turn before any effects are resolved.
I can lose when I am in fact the winner.
I gain more heat than I use.
Sometimes even when I cast nothing at all.
I cool off faster than I should.

This must be quite frustrating to the developers. Before specific spell mechanics and balancing can even be addressed, actual combat mechanics need to work correctly and I am sure that is what is occuring.

I have had some fatastic and close duels as well with all mechanics working as they should and in that moment I hold on to that realization that this will get sorted out.

Keep it real,
Robyn

I think I found a possible cause of the instant loss but. Or at least one of them. I noticed a direct correlation with spirit sting effect going from 3 to 4. For me, it instantly ends the combat turn. For the monster, it instantly ends combat with a loss to me. I have yet to verify it against a player. However I can confirm this happens against those fox things and bunnyips.
This will fool them, unless they look at it.

A friend and me notice when we play next to the other, we get random loss at the same moment. Found 3 times, 2 against mobs and 1 he playing PVP and me playing against mob. The 3 times we were using the mobile data network, no wifi connection. Someone notice the same?

Jano, I am sorry to have treated against you, but spamming spirit sting caused a eventual win for me even though I only had 17hp VS your 200 +.

I can now confidently say that spirit sting spam is a cause of random loss /win

EDIT: Kojiki got hit by a random loss on turn 3 when I spammed a full 5 spirit stings. I had 7 health with a dot

It can't be the only one: Today I had a random loss at first round
I have played
-Silence
-Heal Serious Wounds

My rival
-Mirror destiny
-Cool Breeze

We haven't even use a damage spell still

But indeed can be more than one source alone...

Battle system should be reworked to support mid-fight disconnects.

When u lose internet signal just for a fraction of second, the fight is lost. For a game which encourages traveling this isnt acceptable.

When one of the players disconnects, the fight should go on like he is afk, allowing him to reconnect if possible.

Yikes. From a coding perspective, that is a tall order. Tall on the order of even the telecommunication industry just ends the  connection due the  insane amount of variables. A tie on a disconnect might be a compromise?
