Issues with the Wand

I'm curious ... since I believe it's been said that the game wont have a standby mode (aka if your phone is off even if the app is open it wont work) could the wand perhaps fill the role of some sort of notification for when there is a monster/resource nearby? Nice to not have to constantly have your nose in your phone. The little button I see on the want could light up maybe.
I have no idea if this is actually possible, so feel free to shoot me down lol. But it would be nice if there was some sort of notification system. Even if the only pro was not constantly having to stare at your phone, and the only battery saved because the phone screen isnt active, even if gps and all that were still working. Smile

Actually, they are trying to implement some kind of notification on your phone when something interesting is near you. Even when you are not using the app actively. Doing that through the wand doesn't seem very useful to me because when you would notice it through the wand you would most certainly also have your phone on hand because you're playing.

something akin to the "pokemon go plus" where it vibrates at you to notify you there's something nearby would be awesome...even better if the apple watch and various android watches were supported in a way that they'd pop the notification and you could see what it was notifying you about....

the only downside I see to that, is the fact that constant GPS sucks battery like a muscle car chugs gasoline...

to the tune of at least 5%/hour background battery drain...I've got an app that I just had to change from "always on" to "when using the app" for the location mode because of that battery drain...the function of the app was fantastic, and, would absolutely be worth it if I had better battery life...

How will it connect to the phone?
How fast will die a battery of Wand and phone if play about 2 hour (with lil tea break's)? Huh

If past experience is anything to go on augmented reality games are really hard on the phone battery since they make heavy use of a wide array of device features including GPS, GPU, CPU, Cellular/Wifi data, Bluetooth and similar. It's fairly typical for most ARG's to drain a phone battery in 2-4 hours which is why you can usually identify ARG players by the charging cables coming from their external power banks lol.

yup, this is the behemoth I carry for my battery life Wink

20,000mah battery pack for $26.00 if you get the black one...and, it's been a wonderful pack....I caught em on woot when they were 2 for $40...I want to grab a couple more, so that they're charged up and handy in case of power outages this winter...

Yes, that's why I said they try Big Grin.

actually, if you could customize it, as to what the notifications would be, that would be AWESOME...."three short buzzes for a fellow order member, two long buzzes for message mention, one short buzz for nearby monster, three long buzzes for dungeon" stuff like that...so without pulling your phone out, you can tell what it's trying to tell you....and the ability to turn any of those notifications off....

Do we know when the wands are being sent out to the people who purchased that package?

Hello, as we have mentioned earlier, there has been a delay in shipping of wands. We had to find new partners and the shipping company lost a package with first prototypes so crucial for testing and further development. The estimated delay is 6-8 months. However, don't worry. You will all receive wands. We are not hiding or anything. If you will like you want to ask more questions, feel free. We are available all the time.

This isnt a wand issue just a thought. As an addtional perk incentive to people who purchased the wand during the campaign (assuming the game takes off; which i believe it will) offer a discount on custom extras with a founders code (to be sent when wand customization is more of a priority)

Hey, that is not a bad idea. We will think about that when the time comes Wink
