Will beta accounts carry over

Alot of times an Account wipe is easier, because during the alpha and the Beta things get added, removed, changed and modified, and rather than go back in and try and play clean up on an account, its just easier to start fresh. Wipe the Database.

Maybe a "reserved name" table, associated with email addresses?

Actually, since a database consists of multiple tables, depending on how they'be structured the tables, you could do one that consists of "account info" which would be character name, email address, password (encrypted), and player ID...then store character data, referenced by player ID....

The latter being where the wipe would occur...

Indeed and that would be the logical way to go about it anyway really, generally in database design the goal is to have one table for each type of entity that you need to store data about then relate those to each other using key fields. So you would have like AccountTable (stores account info), CharacterTable (Stores character specific info), ItemsTable (Stores the data on what items can exist), InventoryTable (Link table that links items to characters with quantities) etc.

It's more flexible that way when things need to be changed and you don't end up having to redesign the entire database or change the same values in many different rows to change one single attribute which tends to lead to errors otherwise.

I just wondered, will the wipe include the Order so that we can pick another one afterwards?
May the force be equal to mass times acceleration.

Again, it would depend on how far they go with the wipe, and which is easiest to them. A reserved name could be a possibility as they could tie the name to an E-mail account, or like Pogo, letting the Testers in a day or 2 early.

Yes, I know. I was actually waiting for an answer from the team (once they have time for that) Big Grin.

Would be great to clarify what exactly are alpha/beta testers going to retain.

Name?
Premium items? (ring and amulet have 3 days usage, so if we use them now, we will get new ones with public release?)

These two are bugging me the most atm Smile

There will be a complete wipe after each release Alpa/Beta/Open Beta. You will still have your key that we will provide you with at the end of the campaign. That key comes with all the perks you have purchased during the campaign and you can use it for each of the releases. that means you can have the ring and amulet 3x3 days. It may not be fully functional for Alpha though. That we have to test Wink

It works a little differently in a non relational database that we use - NoSQL. The flexibility and the speed was the main reason we chose it so it fits our solution well Smile.

Yes Alpha and Beta testers will be able to keep their nickname and will get access to the game 1 day before official release.
